 選帝侯, the same kanji used for prince-electors (Kurfürsten) of the Holy Roman Empire.
 帝国の直属都市 is sometimes used to refer to the imperial free cities of the Holy Roman Empire (normally 帝国自由都市). Although it lacks the "Free" phrase, replacing it with "Under the Direct Control of", it retains the same meaning. Imperial free cities were directly controlled by the Holy Roman Empire rather than being subordinate to a feudal lord.
 かけ橋 can be used to mean "mediation" in addition to literally meaning "suspension bridge", likely a deliberate stylistic choice rather than simply using 橋.
 Presumably there are Osean facilities south of the mass driver and Yuktobanian facilities to the north, otherwise this sentence makes no geographic sense when taken more literally.
 The Japanese wording for 7,650,000 is 765万, 万 is a counter for 10 thousand in some Asian languages. 765 is a Japanese goroawase for Namco.
 A Langer truss bridge is a type of tied-arch bridge; the classification is rarely used in English outside of technical writing, but more common in Japanese. Its defining trait compared to other tied-arch bridge designs is that its arch is not a perfect curve, but is instead composed of many straight girders.
